Emotional understanding can be incredibly complex, and not always easily grasped by young children. With the Feelings Finder Social Emotional Learning Activity from Excellerations®, children can engage with social emotional learning in a way that allows them to relate visual cues back to their own experiences and engage in a conversation about what these things mean. Place photos side by side in the Feelings Finder board and ask children to identify which emotion is correct or use the small plush dolls to illustrate an idea or have children relate to a particular emotion. Children will be eager to participate in the bright, colorful and fun activity.
Due to the activity’s broader approach, it’s great for teachers in Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms. Invent a lesson around the activity or come up with an idea of how to use it in a unique way: fewer rigid instructions allow for fluid teaching and learning, which is fantastic for a wider variety of children’s needs, including the needs of children with autism, ADHD or special needs.
