We used it as a noise dampener at first. Now it is a soft spongy "rug" that is in a quiet place. The "pop up" features are unique and fun to use. Does not pull apart easily when walked on like some foam floor coverings.

City Block Mat A Hit At Our House

This mat comes in pieces like a puzzle so just the fact that the children have to put it together is a learning activity. It comes apart easily, stacks up in a 12x12x8" space. I purchased this a grandparent but would buy one for my classroom as well. The foam is strong, we grownups playing with children can walk on it as we play and the kids can crawl all over it as they move vehicles around. The buildings painted on the mat pop up to provide a 3-D effect. Our grandchildren ages 2-11 enjoyed playing on the mat with a variety of vehicles, parking them in the spots, adding real snacks to buy at the snack bar, and healthy snacks & little toys to buy at the store, using blocks to build additional structures and freeways on and over the mat. The girls and boys both enjoy this mat and so do the adults who play along with the chidlren. The toddler is telling all sorts of stories about what he is doing and where he is going as he plays thereby developing increased language skills. The only thing that would have made this mat better would have been to have a farm or construction site printed on the reverse side making it reversible. However, we are using permenent markers on that side to draw our own roads and build our buildings on that side with our different construction toys and that is working well also.

This is a great product! The foam mats are well-designed, and the pop ups are great. My son loves the little foam vehicles that pop out. I love how large the mat is, but how easy it is to put away. The mat is a little more purpley than gray. But that's not a big deal to us. We even like to use it to put his wooden train tracks on because we have a lot of carpet around the house. Awesome product! We did a lot of research on mats to find the right one.
