Great for music classes
We bought 10 pairs for music class. These enable the children to learn slow, fast, loud, quiet, swish, and clap. The knobs are great for little hands to hold. I couldn't have made them for this price and the quality is great! The children love them.

Not good for very young children
These are totally great for classrooms with children who never put toys in their mouths! On the first day we had them, however, one of our students chewed on the corner and the "sand paper" became loose grit when wet. The black grits quickly began dissolving off the block and got on anything they ...touched.

Rather cheaply made. Very expensive per set. I wouldn't recommend it.

Interesting instrument for children to use and hear. We use it with other instruments to test their listening skills. (Close eyes and listen, no peeking! What made THAT sound ?) . We like to show them how it can be a soft sound,,, but of course they prefer the CLAPPING sound LOL. #sweepstakes

Our kids like having these as an option in their music center. They are easy to hold and easy to use for 2-5 year olds.

Pro - Sturdy wood blocks for music making. Con - the sandpaper needs to be rougher. You don't get much sound from these.
