My 2 y/o son is into insects and he loves rubbery toys, so I thought he would love these. He does really like some of them (right now the praying mantis, the grasshopper, the bee, and the ladybug). I was a bit disappointed as to the coloring of the insects, however. The vast majority of them are mostly black. My son, as you can tell, has picked the ones that actually have color as his favorites and seems to find the others a big boring. I know they are supposed to be realistic, but perhaps picking more colorful insects or making a hue brighter would be more attractive to a child. For example, dragonflies come in many colors, but this dragonfly is just black. Or perhaps portray a damselfly instead, which have very bright colors. They are also a little repetitive - two spiders (one mostly black and boring) and an ant as well as one of those flying ant things (again, black.) So I like the idea of these, their size, and their sturdiness, but I wish they were more colorful.
