We searched the large brick and mortar toy/doll stores to locate a doll/character that a young boy could relate to, and could enjoy participating in childhood fantasy moments. I purchased this for my nephew who had become attached to "babying" his teddy bear. It's almost as big as him right now, but he'll grow into it. It is soft and he now sleeps with it and it's become his buddy. The shoes have actual laces on them. I thought the hair was a bit long for a boy, but my nephew enjoyed playing with the hair (sometimes carries him by the hair). Very safe for young children and being washable is a MUST at that age! This is a great value and quality. I would definitely purchase another of these dolls!
