Great paint, hard to open
We really enjoyed the possibility of learning that skin, hair and eyes can be different shades of browns. We heard our group talking about the yummy color names. Even if you think your group's skin tone might be homologous, their hair and eyes are multiple colors of brown and a good way to bring up ...the conversation of beauty in diversity. It was a enriching and valuable experience for all of us, making our children's art more realistic!

Decent...not excellent
I am an early childhood educator, and a teacher/trainer of Anti-Bias Education for other early childhood professionals. I think it is critically important for children to interact with skin tones in MANY different ways to build in positive experiences with a range of brown tones. This paint is a w...onderful product to achieve that goal. That said, the paint seems to dry white/chalky. Another reviewer said to add glue, and that helps keep the original tones and glossiness...I haven't tried that, because I have never been concerned about the final color in my process art. If you are trying to paint self portraits, you will run into trouble. Also, the color palette is not all that true to life - the olive is more like green than skin, and the peaches are quite pink. I'm sure mixing would fill in any gaps in the spectrum, though. Bottom line - if you want this for process oriented, open-ended art - you will be happy. If you are hoping to create realistic looking self-portraits, might want to stick with the crayons, or plan to add some glue.

This paint is amazing, much better than another brand I have used. The paints blend together easily to create the exact shade needed to match my students skin. The paint cleans up easily and when dried the art work lasts. I absolutely love the names of the paints and believe that they help young children to build a positive self image. People are not colors they are shades like mocha or almond and the company recognized this when naming the paints.
I would buy again
