Exactly What I Wanted
I've been wanting a paint drying rack for years, and finally broke down and ordered this when it went on sale. I wish I hadn't waited. It makes painting with my preschoolers so much easier. Instead of having to hang drippy artwork on a clothesline to dry, or find space on tabletops, I simply whisk i...t onto a shelf and walk away. I have 28 students, and find there's more than enough room to dry basic art work. I'm even using a couple of the bottom shelves to keep a ready supply of construction paper, fingerpaint paper, and manila paper handy for quick use. Fantastic!

Good Product at Decent Price
The shevles are fine for paper art, but not sturdy enough to hold canvases. The shelves bend and dip under the "slight" weight of canvases. I had to remove every other shelf, leaving me with only 10 shelves instead of the 20 that it came with, so the students wet paintings wouldn't be smudged. Overa...ll a good buy and I would recommend it. I did a lot of comparison shopping and the price was very good compared with other similar products that also had 20 shelves.

A great drying rack

I needed a drying rack to keep my student's artwork from sticking together. I don't have a permanent location for my classes so I bring supplies back and forth from home. My rack had to be lightweight enough that I could carry it and portable enough to fit in my van. It works great! It will hold four 9x12 pieces, two 12x18 pieces or one 18x24 piece on each shelf. You can take racks out for taller artwork as long as it's not too heavy. The racks won't hold too much weight. The only problem is getting wet artwork to the car in the wind! I'm working on a solution for that issue.

I'm a semi-professional artist and never imagined that I could afford to set up my own printmaking studio. I've been borrowing and buying time on other peoples' presses for the last several years, but after finding a school press for less than $2000 and this drying rack, my setup is perfectly adequate for the small polymer etchings I make. And I can work whenever I want to!

Space Saver in my art studio
Submitted 08/21/2013

From East Bethany, NY
I run an art business out of my home studio. I purchased the rack to dry the wooden magnets I make. I love everything about it, except that I wish the shelves were sturdier. I would give this product 5 stars if the shelves were strong. They really bow with the weight of my lightweight product. For anything heavier than simple paper, the shelves will bow. That's not a problem for me, as long as they last. (I just set it up and used it today for the first time, so time will tell about the durability of the shelves.) I'm not sure why some people had trouble with the shelves falling out, unless their particular item was faulty or not screwed in tightly. My shelves, even fully loaded and bowing, are in no danger of falling out. The frame is sturdy enough, that if I ever need to, I can probably fashion my own shelves out of thin birch plywood.

Can hold art project papers up to 18x24 inches. Racks are removable so you can accommodate thicker projects or can be placed on a table to fill up and then put in the shelving unit to dry. So many uses and can be put on a shelf, floor, or hung on a wall. Better than all those others that are even higher priced or larger. Perfect for home or classroom. Not sturdy enough for heavy clay type projects but for light clay or paper and such it is great!
