Great birthday activity!!!
I love this product! I purchased along with the tambourine kit for my 4 year old birthday party and kids and adults loved them both. I just purchased them again for my 1st grader classroom activity. The only reason why I don't give this product 5 stars is because this second time I noticed that the...y changed the material that you insert to make the rain sound. I think the previous one works (sounds) much better! However, your kids will love this product. Previous material: Beads New material: Plastic little balls (Pet maybe)

Fun Craft!
The kids (ages 5-10) had fun making the rain sticks and were easy enough for the young ones to do alone, but the dull sound is disappointing if you've ever heard a real rain stick.

The kids really enjoyed making the rain sticks. Younger children need more help to put the "rice beads", the center piece inside, and wrap the rubber band around the end cap. They love decorating the outside and making music!

The children had fun assembling these and they sound great. The only problem is that the end pieces can come off when children play with them. So, I recommend gluing the flaps on the end pieces and then securing them with the rubber bands provided.

We got this for our 4-year old's b-day party. I flipped up the tabs on the triangles and inserted the paper into the tubes beforehand as this was difficult for an artisically inclined adult! BUT...everything else was great!* The kids loved the project, really really got into it and the end result is beautiful and really sounds like a rainstick. *The decorations didn't really fit with our Fairy hunt party - so we purchased a bunch of stickers, etc.

Great Craft

Good quality, sturdy - won't collapse like some of the other "cardboard" crafts we've used before. The only drawback is that there is only a foam piece and rubber band to cover the ends... although they did seem secure, we chose to tape the ends of the tube before placing the foam pieces on, so the beads wouldn't come out if the children pulled off the rubber bands. Another option is to use rice instead of beads if small children are making the craft. The kids loved making these!

This craft is a favorite at the camp I run in the summer for incoming kindergarteners. The teachers need to set up the interior spikey paper roll, which is the hardest part. Little hands love to decorate the outside and pour in the beads. Everyone feels successful. BUT there IS a lot of teacher prep.
