Good loom for the price!
It works best if you wrap the yarn around the back that way you can cut the strings in the back and tie knots to make fringe on your weaving. They worked great from little kids up to adults. Only draw back is they do not contain a shuttle to hold the string. But we made those at the site. The TH...JHA (Tar Heel Jr. Historians) tried them out last week and loved them. Wanted to know if we could get more so they could each have one. We will use them on site to work with area school children. They will be used as demo's on site as well as part of the fiber trunk to go out to area schools.

I don't usually write reviews but I would like to recommend these to teachers for students 3rd grade and above. I have used these for years with my 3rd graders and they love them! They are so proud of themselves when they cut their weavings off of the loom and take them home. They are a good investment and many parents donate the yarn making it a very inexpensive activity.

I have had the privilege of using the Beginnner's Wooden Loom with my students for many years (approximately 10 plus years) I have tried to create looms out of cardboard or plastic board in the past only to be disappointed by their performance. The wooden or plastic looms bend when the students start to put tension on the warp strings. Discount School Supply's looms do not bend and are the perfect size for a student to finish a weaving project quickly. One of the distinguishing parts of my art program is the integration of fiber arts and I could not do that without these looms. I recently purchased more looms because some of my 10 year old looms had broken slots..... That is pretty amazing! What a good value for the art room.
Perfect for beginner weavers!

Great value for a sturdy beginner loom. I prefer these to the cardboard looms I have used in the past. Easy to thread, and just the right size for a beginning weaver.

To complete a project on the loom takes time and patience - for preschool and kindergarten children, it works well to have them take turns weaving. Older children have the patience and skill to complete a full project. The wood is very thin and the tabs can break, so they need to be handled with care.

I was impressed with the sturdiness of the boards. Good for one on one with younger kids. I use the plastic darning needles and tie the yarn to it. Fosters independence with older students. Bring out all your plain and fancy yarns. The texture will be amazing!
