These were a great addition to our free, history camp about transportation. Through Zoom we could see that the 75+ campers, ages 5-14, enjoyed decorating their trains. The trains were a little pricey for our budget, but they were very well made, so we thought they were worth the cost.
Trains are adorable! DSS experience not so much
These trains are adorable. They are perfect for a whole range of kids. I purchased them for a 4-year-old who loves trains. He'll paint the whole set as a "stay home" project as long as the schools are closed; he can do them for arts/crafts time every day with a parent or older brother, and he never gets tired of painting. As someone else mentioned, these would also make terrific party favors, i.e. an activity to do at a train-themed party and the kids can take them home. I am hoping next year, the COVID-19 virus won't be an issue like it is now and we can have just such a birthday party! It's a great idea to set up a painting table, some crafts and glue and stickers, etc. We can get all the supplies from DSS. Oh wait... I had a terrible experience with them. They shipped these wonderful trains with the paint I ordered so poorly packaged that it leaked all over everything, stained the boxes, and they didn't really even apologize. They sent me 2 bottles of replacement paint (didn't offer to replace the trains, which ok, I didn't really have a problem with until they started ignoring my emails) that ALSO leaked all over the package, my hands, clothes, etc. and ignored my emails to them after that. So maybe I'll rethink that birthday party idea as far ordering from DSS goes. Anyway, the child I bought these for loves them. And with 12 trains, he'll have plenty to keep him busy painting them just the way he wants them. He has a full-sized train table, tracks, and town to put them on, so I was thrilled to find these trains. If he runs out, I would buy him more. Except that my experience with Discount School Supply was so overwhelmingly negative. I may not buy more after all. I will probably find another distributor. Even if I have to pay more overall. So there is that.
