great value for the money, especially when my students go through pencils like crazy! I started "selling" them for one "ticket" each, and by god, they stopped going through them as fast, imagine that! Hopefully these will last me through the end of the year.

Sadly, these pencils performed POORLY. I purchased these for my child's classroom of 28 kids, so they get LOTS of use. Most of the pencils didn't sharpen properly or @ all (for some, the ENTIRE pencil was eaten up by the sharpener). Thinking it was the pencil sharpener, I tried using 3 other machine...s. Didn't make a difference. These weren't dinky home sharpeners either--they were heavy-duty professional grade machines used @ the school. I also tested the machines by sharpening other pencils, namely the brand I SHOULD have bought (Dixon Ts)--those sharpened perfectly every time. Then I examined the Colorations pencils & notice almost HALF of them had the lead off-center from the surrounding wood. No wonder the sharpener would get one side of the pencil point sharp, but the other side still left 'pointy' wood behind. Very frustrating! I would just keep trying to rotate & wiggle the pencil trying to even it out, only to end up running through entire pencils! I end up tossing perfectly new stubs of pencils. Then, of the ones that did manage to get a proper point, kids complained of the cruddy erasers smudging-- they do smudge the glossier paper of their workbooks. I bought the 144 pack thinking I was getting a bargain, however I went through 4 dozen. Of those 4 doz., HALF sharpened unevenly. Of those half, half didnt produce a useable point, they went straight to the garbage. I didn't even bother w/the remaining boxes, I threw them away without even trying; not only a complete waste of time, but a total embarrassment!! The teacher must of thought I was so cheap! The next day, I promptly ordered a bulk pack of the D. Ticonderoga pencils (from somewhere else). Yes, I paid a bit more, but NOT A SINGLE pencil was a dud. Lesson learned. Generic cheapo pencils are just that- CHEAP! Save your time & money if you are shpping for classroom pencils by getting that brand we all know schools have been using.
